Last week Michael and I were able to begin to tackle the unfinished gables on our home. We only had the front gable done prior to last week, but since we've had the materials (kindly donated by a friend) sitting around for some time we were able to finish another gable. When I say "we" I do mean we! On the 2 days, while Ella napped I joined Michael outside and helped by aiding in stringing chalk lines, handing out shingles, measuring and marking shingles needing cuts and eventually even got the guts to use the tool to cut them myself! (The tool was slightly heavy, but Michael reassured me it's the lightest tool he owns.) After finishing a side gable, we have some left over shingles but not enough to finish the third and last gable so that will be a project for another day. It's such a wonderful feeling to work on things that need to be done that are looming over you, especially with the house. Here is a shot of the gable in progress:
